A Comparison of Stories: CNN vs Fox News

The recent North Korea nuclear weapons scandal has sparked a media frenzy.
The Fox News article titled "Trump to tell Kim no economic sanctions relief without denuclearization: report" is written by Lukas Mikelionis.  The topic is Trump putting pressure on Kim Jong Un, leader of North Korea, to dismantle North Korea's nuclear program.  Trump is portrayed as almost an american hero.  Someone who is relentless in getting what he asks for from the North Koreans.  This article seemed geared to his supporters.  It could be used as "evidence" that he is accomplishing what he promised to "protect" the United States.  The CNN  article is titled "Trump says US has not 'given up anything' in North Korea talks".  The article was written on the April 22, 2018 by Kate Sullivan.  The difference in titles already suggests the clash of opinions presented in the two articles.  The quote in the article brings an element of skepticism to Trumps statement, rather that stating something more straightforward like the Fox article.  The quote could show the author's distrust in the President's opinion.  Inside the article written by CNN the contrast is clearly seen.  Sullivan includes the opinion of Chuck Todd of NBC's "Sunday Today" show.  Todd talks about how the US doesn't have many preconditions for North Korea to meet.  This makes Donald Trump look a little foolish, as he has been spending time saying that he wont make a deal until North Korea meets all of the US demands.

  1. I also wrote a post comparing CNN and Fox, and I'm in part wondering if our analysis of CNN and degrading Trump or opposing him comes from our own personal bias and view of the media? There are differences in wording, but where does the fullness of our opinion on that come from?

    1. I agree completely. While writing this I found it very hard to restrict a majority of my very strong beliefs, especially because the topic included Donald Trump. The amount of personal bias played in responses to articles like this I know for me is probably a substantial amount. As for the latter part of your question commenting on the "fullness of our opinion" I am not yet sure. That is something I will have to look into more.
